The guardrails are elements that are designed to redirect vehicles in a direction parallel to traffic, withstand damage from impacts and absorb the kinetic energy of the vehicles. As a result the vehicles will reduce their speed and protect drivers. The guardrails and accessories meet the EG-2000 standard (General Technical Standard issued by the Peru Department of Transportation).
The metal guardrails are high elasticity W shaped steel beams manufactured according to AASHTO M-180 and hot-dip galvanized zinc according to ASTM 123.Their effective length is 12'-6'', 12 1/4'' width and 0.1'' thick.

The guardrail marker is made of hot laminated galvanized steel, 0.1'' thick, coated with a zinc coating by hot dip process, with a minimum amount of five hundred fifty grams per square meter (550 g / m²), both sides, according to ASTM A-123 standard. The outer surfaces are covered with high intensity retro-reflective sheeting (Type III). The guardrail marker meets the EG-2000 standard (General Technical Standard issued by the Peru Department of Transportation).
